New breaking images to share with you
here on Sky News. This is the British
Council building in Kiev. The damage
there caused by Russian missile and
drone attacks. This has been posted on X
by the chief executive of the British
Council, Scott McDonald. And he said,
"Last night, the bombing in Kiev damaged
the British Council offices. Our guard
was injured and is shaken but stable. At
the insistence of my amazing colleagues,
we will continue operations in Ukraine
today wherever possible. Scott McDonald
saying that the resilience of staff is
all inspiring and I am deeply thankful
they are all safe. And if you look at
that image, you can see every single
window of that building has been
destroyed. Insulation, it appears draped
over the front of the the British
Council sign. the buildings in the
foreground as well also with all of
their windows destroyed and debris,
broken doors and insulation and building
panels filling where the entrance to the
British Council building should be. Just
out of shot, but I can tell you at the
top of the image is uh a wall that is
completely pebbled dashed with shrapnel
holes. There are several dozen holes.
They appear to be about the size of a
fist or so, maybe slightly larger. and
they imprinted into what appears to be
the the concrete that that building is
made of. But what you can see in the
lower section of that image is every
single window and door destroyed, debris
scattered both inside and outside of the
British Council building. And we know
it's not just the British Council, the
EU delegation building also damaged in
this attack. But that attack goes far
deeper and is far more deadly because we
are aware that 15 people at least
including four children, three of whom
were 12 for uh 14 2 and 17 have been
killed in that attack. Around 40 people
if not more thought to have been
injured. We'll bring you more details on
that as it happens.
